hrlaughed:

is never the answer.

Think of when you saw someone you really look up to speak.

At the Q&A portion, when some militant Socialist/Communist/whathaveyou came up to the podium and grilled your idol with stupid questions and was given clear, coherent answers, but persisted with emotional appeals and walked away unconvinced, did that speaker get angry?

Did they walk off stage in a huff like a petulant child muttering, “They just don’t get it!!!!”

…Chances are, no.

Those who have really well-informed, rational ideas do not get shaken by every moron who comes along with logical fallacies.

Either you know it, or you admit that you could use some brushing up on the subject.

It’s usually not those who know it that get angry.

For the millionth time it’s okay to be wrong, people!

And even while you’re reading this thinking, “I don’t need to listen to them, I’ve REALLY thought this through—despite brushing off their arguments and suggestions that I don’t have good answers to—and I’ve thought about this for years!” Can you  please just remember that religious people have thought about their ideas and rationalized FOR YEARS, as have Republicans, Democrats, etc.

Sometimes, it’s not enough to just have thought about something “for years”. It requires a specific kind of thinking. And that kind of thinking starts with having an open mind.

Just some food for thought.

Not sure if maybe I should have just put this here. Welp.
