Jobs Vs. Lives
So I was just watching a short re-cap of the debate, and I heard a question directed at Paul about how he wants to cut billions of dollars in military spending and what does he have to say to the people who will lose their jobs because of that…
All I can say is that I could never be in one of these debates because I would’ve laughed at that one for about five minutes straight before being able to even try to formulate an answer over stifled giggles.
Can we just look at what the implied priorities are of such a question?
So, on one hand there’s the jobs of all those poor, innocent, people who work for the military-industrial complex. How tragic for all those people who assist in making bombs and guns that kill children in other countries. And then there’s the other hand, with the LIVES of innocent men, women, and children whose only crime was I guess being born in the wrong [oil-rich] place at the wrong goddamn time.
Therefore, understood in full context, their question is basically:
“Yes, we know you would like for innocent people to stop being slaughtered in droves, Dr. Paul, but what are the guys murdering them going to do for work if you take away their paychecks?” -.-
